Hiring A Tree Doctor in Rockland County New York.

There are several things to keep in mind when you decide to hire a tree doctor. A homeowner should write down important questions to make sure nothing is forgotten when the tree doctor comes to inspect your trees.

When you call the tree doctor let him or her know if there are certain trees or shrubs you are especially concerned about. Also, let the tree doctor know if you want an estimate for tree pruning or tree removal. It also helps to let the tree doctor know if the trees to be worked on are in the front yard or in the backyard. If you’re interested in tree removal consider tying a ribbon around the tree if you’re not going to be home when the tree doctor is going come to leave your tree removal estimate.

If you have a heavily wooded property it may be necessary to set an appointment with the tree doctor to inspect your trees. If you don’t have a lot of trees the tree doctor can probably inspect your trees and leave the estimate for tree pruning or tree removal at your door if you are not going to be home.

If you do meet with the tree doctor you may want to take notes on any tree care recommendations the tree doctor suggests. Also, getting a written estimate that clearly states all tree pruning or tree removal work to be done insures there will be no discrepancies when it comes time to pay the bill for the tree work.

Never hesitate to ask the tree doctor questions about your trees and shrubs. Most tree doctors are happy to share their tree care knowledge with you.

Questions to ask the tree doctor that inspects your trees:

  • Will the tree pruning or tree removal estimate include clean up of tree branches and removal of the wood from your property?

  • Does the tree doctor specialize in the type of tree care the job entails (tree pruning, tree removal, tree spraying, tree fertilization, etc.)?

  • Does the tree doctor have the proper workman’s compensation and liability insurance? If you hire the tree doctor ask for a copy of their insurance.

  • Will the tree doctor use spikes when tree pruning? Climbing spikes should only be used on tree removals and not for tree pruning.

  • Will the tree doctor use heavy equipment on driveways, sidewalks, or manicured lawn areas?

  • Will the tree doctor give you a written estimate detailing the type of tree pruning to be done or what is included with the tree removal estimate?

  • What payment terms does the tree doctor accept?
