Many of the tree doctors in Buffalo, NY now employ ISA Certified Arborists to take care of their client’s trees and shrubs. An ISA Certified Arborist has demonstrated a high level of knowledge about trees and tree care by passing an extensive exam developed and administered by the International Society of Arboriculture.

The ISA Certified Arborist exam assesses a tree doctor’s knowledge in six main areas of tree care:

  • Tree biology
  • Tree identification and selection
  • Tree installation and establishment
  • Soil management
  • Tree pruning, tree diagnosis, and tree protection
  • Tree risk management

By passing the ISA Certified Arborist test the tree doctor has proven that he, or she, has a well rounded knowledge in how to take care of trees.

After a tree doctor passes the ISA Certified Arborist exam the certification period is only valid for three years. To maintain the ISA Certified Arborist status the tree doctor must either retake the exam or obtain 30 hours of continuing education credits every three years by attending tree care seminars.

Becoming an ISA Certified Arborist demonstrates a certain level of commitment to learning about trees and how to provide proper tree care. Maintaining the Certified Arborist status means that the tree doctor is willing to continue to learn about the newest techniques to provide quality tree care.

Finding an ISA Certified Arborist to take care of trees in your landscape increases the chances your trees will receive the proper care to keep them as healthy as possible.
